Endodontics, as a branch of dentistry, focuses on the treatment of the vascular-nervous complex of the pulp chamber and root canals.

Indications for Endodontic Treatment:

• Deep carious lesions affecting the endodontic space;
• Crown fractures involving the pulpal complex;
• Traumatic injuries to teeth that resulted in their luxation;
• Chronic apical lesions such as cysts or granulomas caused by the infiltration of the endodontic space with pathogenic microorganisms;
• Prosthetic purposes — for the preparation of dental crowns or bridges;
• Retreatment of teeth with old, infiltrated, or incomplete root canal fillings.

Endodontic conditions can be reversible (such as pulpal hyperemia) or irreversible, and their treatment requires an accurate diagnosis and an appropriate treatment protocol for each individual case. In most situations, pulpal diseases are irreversible, and treatment involves the removal of the affected tissues.

Endodontic treatment is performed under local anesthesia, using an endodontic micromotor with rotary files, magnification tools (loupes or microscope), and an apex locator to ensure the highest possible precision and success.

During the procedure, the tooth is isolated using a rubber dam system, which prevents contamination of the endodontic space with microorganisms from saliva. Repeated irrigation with antiseptic and chelating solutions is used to achieve thorough disinfection and complete removal of affected pulpal tissues.

After the endodontic treatment is completed, the root canals are sealed with root canal sealers and gutta-percha cones. Subsequently, after radiographic verification of the treatment outcome, the coronal structure is restored either with composite resin materials or by performing prosthetic restorations such as crowns or bridges.
